Prayer is at the heart of life at Our Lady and St Joseph's. It is how we grow closer to God, share our thoughts and feelings, give thanks for our blessings, and ask for guidance in our daily lives.
Throughout their journey in school, children are introduced to a variety of ways to pray. They learn traditional prayers, take part in spontaneous prayer, enjoy moments of quiet reflection, and experience prayer through music, scripture, liturgy and worship. We encourage every child to develop their own personal relationship with God and to recognise that prayer can happen anytime and anywhere.
Prayer is woven throughout each school day. We gather together to pray in our classrooms, during assemblies, at lunchtime, and at the end of the day. These shared moments help us celebrate our faith, reflect on our actions, and live out our Gospel values in all that we do.
Every prayer begins with the Sign of the Cross, reminding us that God is with us and helping us to focus our hearts and minds on Him. From our youngest children in Foundation Stage to our oldest pupils in Year 6, prayer helps us grow in faith, hope and love as part of our school family.
Through prayer, our children learn that God is always listening and that they are loved, valued and called to make a difference in the world.
